Looking through the front rung of posts, it looks like this tribe has had a fairly recent surgence of new members. I guess in that respect, I'm no different.
I played upright bass for 9 years, and electric bass for 5 before that... and moved onto mandolin. Being only 5' tall, mandolin is a lot easier to haul around than I'm used to. But I'm having to learn strumming patterns and chords. I never had to learn that stuff before.
My name is Tess, btw. Hi. :)
If anyone has any good strumming pattern resources out there I would sure appreciate it. I seem to be getting caught up way more in those than chords and chord changes.

Sat, October 28, 2006 - 11:31 AMHi Tess,
Check out the link in the FFCP post I put up a while ago. It's a great mando site with lots of stuff you might be interested in.
Chords Technique etc...
It also has a links page to other mando sites.
Welcome & I hope you stick around. I'm new to Tribe & I've been wondering if it's going to make it...
It seems like there is not much activity outside of a few big tribes.

Re: another new member.
Sat, October 28, 2006 - 11:36 AMtribe's been around a while. I got on here because I work ren faire and dickens faire and they've all been on here for a couple years as their main way of communicating pre-faires and off-season mostly. I wouldn't worry too much about it. And I've seen a lot of other tribes get very little action and morph into other seasonal things and whatnot. Ebb and flow.
I'll make sure to check out that post. Thanks, James.
I've been rifling through MandolinCafe for the last few months. I gotta tell you, having a husband who plays guitar, and well, is frustrating as all get out when you're struggling with strum patterns.
