Hello, I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in buying my çumbuş banjo/mandolin. I love how it sounds, but don't think I am going to have time to learn how to play it in the next few years. I bought it at Lark in the Morning in SF. Here is their description of it:

I'm hoping to go live abroad soon, so I'm lightening my load. Not that this thing takes up any space, but I'd rather someone was using it!
Thanks, all you wild mandolinists!

Re: cumbus mandolin, anyone?
Thu, November 9, 2006 - 10:06 AMHmmmmmm, intriguing. How old is it? How much do you want for it, including cross-continental shipping to Virginia? How would you prefer payment? Could you post a couple of pictures of it on Tribe? The Lark link has a dead photo link on it ... or maybe it's just my PC, dunno. Thanks. -

Re: cumbus mandolin, anyone?
Sat, November 11, 2006 - 8:29 AMI posted photos of my cumbus in my photo album. Take a look. Also, there is a cumbus tribe, and I found this post tribes.tribe.net/cumbus/th...c159c89acf
but my browser doesn't let me listen to it. I guess the guy is playing Middle Eastern style using the cumbus mandolin, but I think it's a versatile instrument so if you can play anything on it. Maybe you can get a sense of it's sound. -

Sat, November 11, 2006 - 8:49 AMoops, the link is expired. I asked if he can repost it. and it's a Greek taksimi, which is close to the Middle East but not quite....If only I could learn how to play....

Re: cumbus mandolin, anyone?
Sat, November 11, 2006 - 8:06 AMI purchased it about 2 years ago and it's in new condition because i barely touched it. I would ask $120 obo, shipping included. This includes the instrument, which is missing one of the high strings, an set of extra strings for the lower 3 courses of strings, and the soft case. Apparently you can use regular mandolin strings on it, but the ones I have are from the çumbuş shop via Lark. I broke the high string fooling around and then some friends broke more fooling with tuning...An experienced mandolinist would not make such mistakes probably. ;)
If you have a paypal account, the money can be paid to my paypal account. Otherwise money order is best. If someone really can't do either of those, I will consider asking my friend if I can use their paypal account which accepts credit cards.
I will post photos of the instrument now in my profile.
Cool! Maybe someone will be the happy new owner of it soon...It seems like a great thing to take camping. But I warn you there will be jiffy pop jokes!
